We will soon begin learning about the night sky. What’s the biggest and brightest part of the night sky? The moon! The make-up challenge will be to keep a moon diary. Each night, for 28 days, you are to go outside and look at the moon. Draw a sketch of what the moon looks like and write down what phase the moon is in. Your sketch is to be only of the moon, but make it detailed! At this time of year, the moon can often be seen earlier at night or in the morning.
If you need to, you may look on a computer website. Please make this the exception and observe each day. As the days go by, start to look for patterns. What do you notice? What is happening to the moon? Make predictions about what the moon will look like tomorrow. What will the moon look like in a week? Write down your observations.
Present your Moon Diary with observations to your class to qualify for this month’s Einstein Lunch!
